Break in the Weather
Woot! A sunny Saturday and some free time, all add up to an hour of flight time. I like flight time. I didn’t think that the weather was going to cooperate this weekend, but the rain stayed away on Saturday so I took the opportunity to get some stick time in. Nothing fancy, just some touch and goes at AWO. Well you’d think nothing fancy, but when I got to AWO there were about 11 planes in the pattern, 8 of which were the Blackjack Squadron flying in formation. Seems nobody wanted to stay on the ground with the blue sky calling, not that I blame them. Naturally I was quite a bit busy looking out for other aircraft, so I didn’t get any pictures of planes in the air. Since The Lovely Wife stayed home, I was pulling double duty as camera man and pilot. I did get some nice photos of the flooding around Snohomish and Harvey Field when I was in between the two airports, and could relax a bit.
This first one is taken from south of Harvey, and is looking at the runway.
You can see the Snohomish river, other than the river, nothing else is normally wet.
The next one is south of Harvey looking west.
Again, other than the ocean and the river, it’s all supposed to be dry.
This next one is a closer look at the flooded fields just west and south of the airfield.
The little yellow building is a fruit/coffee stand under about 2 feet of water.
These next two are some long shots of the area. One from north east of Harvey, and the second one from north of Everett.
Sorry about the crappy resolution on the picks, but I’m keeping them small for fast download.
Not a bad hours worth of flying. I got some interesting (if not terribly skillful) photos and maintained my currency for another 60 days. I did manage to get some pics of Mt. Baker, but they were hazy and I don’t like ‘em.
