Northwest Flying Photography Blog

Print & frame my art at Imagekind...

A beautiful day.

Fall is great in the Northwest. It’s really fantastic. We had a picture perfect weekend here in the Seattle area, and it made the perfect reason to go get some time in. The Lovely Wife and I took out a 172 for a couple of hours this afternoon. I didn’t really have a destination in mind, so we flew off and took a look at Mt. Rainier.

I thought I might try a landing at Ranger Creek (
21W) but prudence got the better of me. I don’t think I want to try my first landing there with my pregnant wife is the cockpit with me. I’ve flown in as a passenger, but I should have an experienced right-seater with me on my first PIC run.

The flight took a little over an hour and a half down and back, which gave me some time for a couple of landings back at Harvey (S43) The Lovely Wife did great, both at taking pictures when I was flying, and holding the aircraft steady when I was taking pictures.

There were only a few places where things got a little bumpy when we were flying over the foot hills, but for the most part it was smooth flying both ways.

That’s the lot (or at least the ones I have ready now.) Take care and stay safe.

I’ll likely regret this…

…but I doubt it.

Me Thinks Thou Doth Protest Too Much.

Long time no type…

It’s Quiet…to quite you might say. Something is bound to happen and my guess is it will happen right around the first week of December. I will admit to some prior knowledge, you see The Lovely wife and I are having our first child, so instead of going out and taking pictures of airplanes and writing about it. I have been “getting the nursery together” which as far as I can tell consists of me making a mess.

First task was to get the sheet rock on the ceiling. Of course it already had sheet rock on it, but it was covered with icky asbestos popcorn, so we just sealed it in with new sheet rock. I’ll never do that again. I will pay some poor schmuck to do it, but I’m not going to do it.  It was painful. Naturally once the sheet rock is up, you have to tape and mud it. Here I was fortunate. We have a friend that does that sort of thing for a living, so all I had to do was stay the hell out of his way. Then there was the painting. A coworker of The Lovely Wife helped us out with that. All in all I have discovered that home improvement is not my forte, and I should stick to what I know…sleeping…I do that really well.

The other adventure was picking a contractor to replace all our windows and doors. This is not a happy process, but we think we have a good one, and we’ll see how it turns out sometime in the first half of October. That’s right I said October. October is the perfect month for getting windows installed because it’s cold and opening big holes into the side of your house is a nice way to say “I love You.” to your spouse. Especially when your spouse is pregnant and already prone to being chilly…Not really…I should have done the whole thing a couple month ago, but how was I to know that they don’t do next day delivery on custom windows?

Any way, for thems of yous that care.
28 weeks as of this writing, due the first week in December
We are waiting to find out if it’s a boy or girl.
Cyrus Clark or Amelia Parker.
So far everyone is healthy.
